CONTEXT
This editorial design centers around the iconic collection of short stories, "El llano en llamas" by Juan Rulfo. The new edition of these tales presents a fresh perspective on rural life, offering readers a modern lens through which to explore the intricate narratives. The design aims to immerse readers in the depth of human experiences and emotions captured within the stories.
CHALLENGE
The challenge was to create an editorial design that captures the essence of Juan Rulfo's storytelling, evoking the intricate emotions and layered narratives of the rural folk. The design needed to convey the depth of the human soul, the connection between internal and external experiences, and the timeless relevance of the stories.
CONCEPT
Juan Rulfo was one of the master storytellers in Mexico, having an eye for the depths of the human soul ( book pages clean to empathize on the meaning of pure soul), an ear for the “still sad music of humanity” ( I chose a deep color palette to immerse the reader into that complex world), and a gift for communicating what takes place internally and externally in man ( pages are divided by color).
